How long does a Domain Name last?
A domain name can be reserved for one to as much as ten years. The more years that you reserve your domain name, the cheaper (in the long run) it costs you. Domain name resellers allow you to make settings that will automatically renew the domain name when it is due to expire. This notice of automatic renewal is emailed to you in advance. They will need a credit card number in order to do so. Should your domain name expire and you do not renew, the chances are very good that someone will purchase the name. When you attempt to purchase it from them, it will cost you much more than the normal renewal fee. This is a very important point to remember.

Can you put video or audio on my web site?
Yes to both. Video needs to be in a format suitable for the web. Some of the more common forms of video are MPEG, QuickTime, and Windows Streaming Format. The video captured using digital cameras is usually already in a format that can be used on the web. Video from a video camera usually has to be downloaded to a computer and converted to a web compatible format. Once the video has been converted, the quality may be degraded as the file is compressed for viewing on the internet. The video clips need to be relatively short for speed. Software code that allows video to be played is added to the web page to enable this capability.

Audio also has to be converted to a format that is playable on the web similar to video. The quality of the audio cannot be improved upon; however, it will not be degraded either. Once it is digital the quality will remain the same. The files can be saved as WMA, MP3 or OGG formats.
